There is hardly a person out there who does not dream about traveling the world. Unfortunately, a lot of people get dissuaded by the misconception that traveling to distant places must cost an arm and a leg, even though that’s demonstrably untrue. You can find seasonal discounts in some countries, and some of the most luxurious tourist hotspots usually have a cheaper offer. With this in mind, here are a few top tourist destinations you can visit even on a tight budget.

Anyone who has ever been to Portugal could give you dozens of reasons why this country is worth visiting. One of them is a fact that food is ridiculously cheap. For less than 10 euros, you can get a top-notch restaurant meal.

Seaside Lisbon in Portugal is one of the top destinations on a budget. The houses and buildings look colorful and the whole city is seaside.

Seeing how you can also find a decent accommodation for as low as 15 euros, spending your holiday in Portugal may be both a fun and low-cost adventure you’ve been looking for all along.

For an ancient-history lover, a visit to the land of the Pharaohs is definitely a must. While some may fear the price of such an expedition, this holiday isn’t necessarily an expensive one. Sure, famous historical sites have an entry fee to match their reputation, but food and accommodation prices are pretty low.

Because of this, if you decide to customize your trip to Egypt and only visit some of the places from your bucket list, this trip can turn out to be quite affordable.

While some may believe that a trip to Ibiza must be expensive enough to break the bank, it doesn’t have to be so. In fact, if you play your cards right, it is possible to do Ibiza on a budget. For example, seeing how during high season taxis are extremely pricey, you can simply travel by bus or walk whenever you have the option to do so.

Furthermore, the drinks are 50 percent pricier on the beach. Finally, eating sushi in Ibiza may cost you an arm and a leg, but grabbing a pizza is something quite different. Remember, the price is not determined by the destination, but by the content of the trip.

Speaking about a cost-effective holiday, it would be simply unfair not to mention Morocco. Most famous Moroccan meals like Khlii, Harira with Boiled Eggs and Dates and Hout Quari are, apart from being delicious, also quite cheap (under $2). Also, here you can visit marvelous cities like Marrakech, Fes, Tangier and even take a walk through the fabled Casablanca.

Finally, this jewel of North Africa is known as a family-friendly destination so if you’re looking for a place to take your family to, this one may be among the most affordable.

While budget issues can truly be terrifying, probably the only thing that’s stopping you from traveling is your fear of high prices. I challenge you to step away from this fear and get on that plane, train, or bus! Find a way to visit at least one of these top destinations on a budget in 2017.
